Step Four "Forming"

How is the concrete piece made?

The construction of concrete countertops and other pieces begins with making a form or mold for the poured concrete. Design sketches, dimensioned drawings and templates are referenced when making the form. Additional inlays and cutouts are inserted into the form. A proprietary mix of portland cement, aggregate, steel and fiberglass is poured and troweled into the form. Often concrete is colored with dyes or pigments. The concrete is sealed and finished during the three to four week curing process. Grinding, polishing and acid etching also occurs at this time.
